Apple Cider - A Thanksgiving Rondeau
Once I slept until midday/
And let Thanksgiving slip away/
Because the night before I’d swim/
In tap beer at the Welcome Inn/ -
Then stumble ‘cross the street to pray./
Now, if from my home I stray /
The night before a holiday, /
Tis to make certain we’ve brought in/
Sufficient apple cider./
My Tricia fills a dozen trays/
With vegetables and canapés /
And bakes delicious cakes. – I’ve been/
So blessed that I can scarce begin/
To thank my love – so I just say,/
“We need more apple cider.”
