Nimrod's Lament

Incorrigible Man,
Who leaves alone nothing;
Man who does not build,
But piles and piles;
Big-headed, dim-witted man,
Leaving his place
To go where he does not belong:
Look at me in my sterile tower -
Far, far from where I was,
Nowhere near where I wish to go -
Calling for help
Loudly and often
To servants who no longer
Understand me.
To servants who no longer
Understand each other.
Look at me, you people
Who are just like me,
Who can think of
Nothing better to create
Than monuments
To self-importance.
Look at me,
If you can still see me.
