Rocky and the Great Perhaps

I knew I’d find you in the water,
With sturdy nets instead of lures:
acceptance, rather than deception,
When you don’t care which fish you catch.

And when you’re mending walls and bridges,
The Flint will mock your modesty.
The Rock will keep too many secrets,
The Stone will only let you peek.

But you can’t let them trouble you:
You have important things to do.

Great Perhaps, have pity on me:
when I am lost, please try to find me.
Great Perhaps, have pity on me:
when I am lost, please try to find me.

I knew I’d find you in the City
of hungry lions and sodden gods.
You expiated your denial.
You made them hang you upside down.

And while you’re building your cathedrals,
The Flint will point out every crack.
The Rock will burrow in the corner.
The Stone will posture in the nave.

But if you let them rule the day,
you have no decent place to pray.

Great Perhaps, have pity on me:
when I am lost, please try to find me.
Great Perhaps, have pity on me:
when I am lost, please try to find me.

I knew I’d find you at the Entrance -
directing traffic, as it were.
I always figured I would make it,
but thank you for the friendly face.

And when they build their church upon you,
The Flint will want your blood-soaked shroud.
The Rock will be your silent marker.
The Stone will finally learn to grieve.

And you can sleep till Rocky says
it's time to rise and shine again.

Great Perhaps, have pity on me:
when I’m lost, please try to find me.
Great Perhaps, have pity on me:
when I’m lost, please try to find me.
