Roast Beef for Breakfast / Nodules

Roast Beef for Breakfast

The poet,
middle-aged and overweight,
has roast beef for breakfast
on the outskirts of privilege.
He wonders:
how much more sorrow,
and howe much more joy
before the bubble bursts?

Nodules

Life is not so much
about conforming
as it is about performing
rituals from manuals so
nodules will shrink.

Life is not so much
about comprising
as it is about reprising
rituals from manuals so
nodules will shrink.

Life is not so much
about believing
as it is about conceiving
rituals for manuals so
nodules will shrink.

Life is not so much
about subscribing
as it is about inscribing
rituals in manuals so
nodules will shrink.
